When Instagram launched its live video broadcasting feature on Instagram late last year, it was probably missing an important feature, the ability to save broadcasted videos once they ended. Well, the company has added this feature to the app.
This update means that you can re-watch a video later, post it to Facebook, YouTube, etc or simply save it for memory's sake. For those who use live video feature for makeup tutorials or others, save tool is a must.
Now you can GoLive on Instagram and save the video to your phone!
To save your live video, look for the “Save” button in the upper right-hand corner of your screen. The button is only available after your live broadcast ends. This will automatically save the video content to your phone.
You'll only be able to save the video, not the likes, comments, or other real-time interactions that took place. Since most people respond to comments and use them to guide live video, not having them will make some remarks seem out-of-context if you decide to post the video elsewhere.
When Instagram Live launched, Instagram’s head of product Kevin Weil defended the omission as intentional in order to help make users more comfortable with live-streaming by removing the pressure that the videos would be saved forever. It’s worth noting that the replays still don’t save by default, perhaps to still give users the peace of mind that their videos won’t be permanently online.
