Most of us are very well aware of the well-known dating App Tinder. It has over 50 million users and every user almost know everything about it, but the question arises, Do you guys really know everything about your favorite App? Think Again.
The company is testing a secret version of its app called Tinder Select, for the past six months, an invitation-only service reserved for some of the app's more influential users: the really rich, really famous, really successful and, yes, the really hot and people who do really well on [regular] Tinder.
Getting a Tinder Match has always been the problem for most of the users, the idea of Tinder Select might not have amused users.
The service, which was first reported by TechCrunch, is a section of the existing Tinder app that's activated when a user is invited to join. Sort of like an exclusive club within Tinder, users who are part of Select are matched with each other, though they continue to see matches from "normal" Tinder users as well, according to someone who has seen Select.
Tinder Select has been around for almost six months at least. This suggests that Tinder may not have immediate plans to announce the service at all, which would likely upset the app’s massive user base and “dilute” the Tinder Select pool of users. After all, no one really wants to know their Tinder rating.
It's still unclear if Tinder plans to build out Select as its own offering or keep it around as a quiet experiment. A company spokesperson referred to Tinder Select as "an early test," but declined to comment further.
It will be interesting to see what Tinder has to say about it, because this isn’t the first time a dating app has tried to serve its top users, nor is it the first time a dating app has tried to do the invite-only thing. Stay tuned for further updates.
